Job description
Role Overview
Become part of one of the largest payment industry leaders as a Db2 zOS Administrator within the Infra - GTO Exec Admin team. Your contribution will enable businesses to unlock their full potential by expertly managing extensive OLTP and analytical databases.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage very large-scale OLTP and analytical databases effectively.
- Conduct health assessments and recommend configuration, tuning, and capacity changes to optimize databases.
- Deliver SQL performance tuning and load testing support to developers and support teams.
- Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotational incident response team.
- Generate and analyze database metrics aimed at cost savings and capacity planning.
- Develop and maintain high availability and disaster recovery solutions for database systems.
- Implement database changes strictly following Service Management policies and procedures.
- Support business lines and project initiatives with database expertise.
- Collaborate constructively within the team environment.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or equivalent experience.
- At least 8 years of experience in Db2 Mainframe database administration and production support with proficiency in Db2z V11 or V12.
- Hands-on experience in performance tuning complex SQL queries.
- Expertise managing massive database partitions exceeding billions of rows and performing REORG purge operations.
- Experience with data sharing sysplex environments on large systems.
- Comprehensive knowledge of database best practices including health checks and capacity planning.
- Experience installing and configuring Db2 Connect and Db2 Client.
- Proficient with IBM Db2 administration tools such as Query Monitor, Omegamon (Db2 PE), and utilities including LOAD, UNLOAD, High Speed Unload, RUNSTAT, REORG, COPY, COPYTOCOPY, MERGECOPY, MODIFY, and SPUFI.
- Experience with REXX scripting and stored procedure migrations.
- Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with application developers and system programmers.
