Software Engineer III - OpenXR Developer

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Software Engineer III specialized in OpenXR to develop cross-platform extended reality (XR) applications. This position involves advanced graphics and runtime engineering combined with XR-specific development, delivering experiences compatible with various headsets and platforms.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain XR applications utilizing OpenXR and related software development kits.
• Implement rendering, input handling, and runtime integration for multiple XR headsets.
• Optimize application performance, frame timing, and reduce latency tailored to XR workloads.
• Create cross-platform abstraction layers supporting devices such as Quest, Vision, SteamVR, and additional platforms.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to architectural design decisions.
• Collaborate closely with design and product teams to define XR interaction patterns.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum four years of experience in production software development with focus on XR or graphics programming.
• Expertise in C++ programming and modern graphics APIs including Vulkan, DirectX, and OpenGL.
• Direct hands-on experience with OpenXR or equivalent XR runtime environments.
• Knowledge of Unity or Unreal Engine is advantageous.
• Strong familiarity with shader programming, rendering pipelines, and performance tuning.
• Solid foundation in software engineering principles.
