Role Overview

We are seeking a self-motivated Senior iOS/tvOS Software Developer to enhance the CNN Mobile and Connected TV engineering efforts. This key contributor will address complex technical challenges, support Principal Engineers and Architects in shaping technical strategies, and mentor junior developers. The role encompasses software architecture, technology decisions, and release management for mobile and CTV applications.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and engineer user-friendly, elegantly crafted mobile and connected TV applications tailored for news consumers.
• Develop and support software tools and workflows that reinforce our production pipeline.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Design, Editorial, Delivery, and Engineering teams to deliver CNN's digital products.
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, performing root cause analysis and debugging as necessary.
• Maintain and evolve existing production systems within CNN's digital infrastructure.
• Guide and mentor less experienced developers to foster their professional growth.
• Adhere to and promote best practices, guidelines, and corporate standards including security, coding, monitoring, testing, and service enablement aligned with CNN Digital strategy.

Essential Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
• Advanced skills in troubleshooting, root cause analysis, application design, usability, and project implementation for major organizational units.
• At least five years of professional software development experience.
• Strong grounding in programming fundamentals such as data structures and algorithms.
• Proven capability to create innovative applications and maintain existing codebases.
• Comprehensive full-stack development expertise with native iOS and tvOS clients using Swift, Objective-C, SwiftUI, and related technologies.
• In-depth knowledge of software development methodologies and practical experience designing performant, scalable, and secure applications in mobile and CTV environments.
• Hands-on expertise with DevOps and CI/CD tools for mobile/CTV platforms, including automation of deployment processes, code signing, and automated testing (experience with Git and Bitrise preferred).
• Effective communication skills to collaborate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience architecting flexible software capable of adapting to changing business requirements.

Preferred Additional Skills

• Familiarity with cloud infrastructures such as Amazon AWS.
• General understanding of database systems including SQL/RDBMS, NoSQL, and GraphDB.
• Experience with video-on-demand platforms and video playback on iOS/tvOS is advantageous.

Compensation and Benefits

The role offers an annual base salary ranging from $114,100 to $182,600, with additional potential bonuses and incentives. Benefits include health insurance, wellness programs, life and disability insurance, retirement plans, paid holidays, sick leave, and vacation allowances.
