Job description
Overview
This position involves collaborating with a development team to design, develop, document, test, and deliver software solutions tailored for an Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) system or a performance-critical AFC back office. The role encompasses end-to-end responsibilities across the software development lifecycle, ensuring adherence to stringent standards set by the governing authority.
Key Responsibilities
- Gathering and analyzing requirements for development projects.
- Designing, coding, and maintaining robust software applications.
- Preparing and submitting comprehensive deliverables such as business rules, software requirement specifications, architecture and design documents, interface specifications, source code, testing protocols, and operational manuals in compliance with authority standards.
- Providing daily application support to address operational issues.
- Coordinating with users to clarify requirements, design considerations, and testing procedures.
Qualifications and Experience
- Degree in Computer Science, IT, or Engineering.
- Minimum of five years’ experience in software development with exposure to the complete software development lifecycle.
- Demonstrable expertise in developing enterprise-grade Java/JEE applications for UNIX/Linux and Windows environments.
- Strong database programming skills with SQL and Data Access Object patterns, experienced with MySQL and PostgreSQL.
- Hands-on experience with Spring Framework and Spring Boot.
- Background in software modernization, containerization, and microservices architectures.
- Familiarity with Agile methodologies and continuous integration practices.
- Proficiency in authoring requirements specifications, use cases, design documentation, object-oriented design, and UML modeling.
- Proven skills in AWS ECS and Docker containerization, alongside an understanding of DevOps principles.
Additional Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of message queue systems such as Solace.
- Experience with cloud technologies including Kubernetes, AWS ECS Fargate, AWS RDS, and AWS Lambda.
- Background in Automatic Fare Collection systems.
- Familiarity with EMV standards and PCI DSS compliance.
- Experience with Microsoft Active Directory.
- Proficiency in web technologies: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, JSON.
- Working knowledge of secure communication protocols (SFTP, HTTPS).
- Experience with Angular or similar frameworks.
- Competence in Java unit testing frameworks.
