Boiler Operator

Role Overview

The Boiler Operator will be responsible for managing and maintaining all utility equipment at the facility, including chilling plants, cooling towers, nitrogen plants, purified water systems, boilers, TFHS, and associated pumps. The role involves overseeing breakdown repairs, equipment commissioning, preventive maintenance, calibration, and documentation, ensuring smooth operational continuity.

Key Responsibilities

• Participate in breakdown repairs of all utility equipment such as chilling plants, cooling towers, nitrogen plants, purified water systems, boilers, TFHS, and pumps.
• Support modification tasks and engage in the erection and commissioning of new equipment.
• Prepare and execute qualification and re-qualification protocols for equipment and hand over respective reports to Quality Assurance.
• Operate systems including chilled water, chilled brine, cooling water, purified water, nitrogen gas plant, compressed air, boilers, and TFHS while maintaining detailed log books.
• Maintain online documentation and ensure all preventive maintenance (PM) and breakdown records, plant modification forms, sanitation logs, utility history cards, and cleaning schedules are up to date.
• Calibrate vessels and tanks accurately.
• Plan and perform preventive maintenance according to the schedules and update records accordingly.
• Create indents for procurement of utility equipment spares.
• Conduct measurements related to mechanical, civil, painting, and HDPE contractor work and verify contractor billing.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives across plants and monitor housekeeping standards.
• Keep layout, schematic diagrams, and Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID) for all plants current.
• Plan and implement energy conservation efforts ensuring utility supply meets user requirements.
• Coordinate with the documentation team during audits as needed.
• Manage the steam condensate recovery and hot water circulation systems effectively.
• Monitor and optimize the water distribution networks.
• Organize training preparation and ensure compliance with training requirements for utility operations.
• Develop and revise standard operating procedures (SOPs) relating to operation, maintenance, and cleaning of utility equipment.
• Handle GMP related software systems including SAP, LMS, EDMS, and EDAMS.

Open to candidates able to perform the outlined duties at the Oserian Engineering facility in Nakuru, Kenya.
