Role Overview
The firm is looking for an experienced Trader to join their Trading Teams. The ideal candidate has a background trading in Asian markets and desires a role with substantial independence and responsibility. This position requires close collaboration with risk management, operations, and technology teams, alongside applying market insight, quantitative analysis, and decisiveness under pressure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and trade a proprietary portfolio focused on the APAC region and China.
- Regularly assess fair values of index futures, ETFs, and their underlying securities, considering factors such as cost of carry, dividends, and financing/borrowing rates.
- Identify and act on trading opportunities including ADRs, index arbitrage, and statistical arbitrage strategies.
- Oversee risk exposure adhering to firm-wide limits and controls while monitoring corporate actions like dividends, index rebalances, mergers, and splits to adjust models and positions accordingly.
- Keep abreast of macroeconomic trends, regulatory changes, and market structure developments to leverage potential opportunities.
Ideal Candidate Qualifications:
- Minimum five years of trading experience on an index arbitrage, ETF market-making, or directional desk involving basis trading or cross-asset/cross-border arbitrage, preferably within prop trading firms, market makers, or banks, with a demonstrable track record.
- Practical trading experience in APAC and/or Chinese markets.
- Effective communicator capable of explaining complex trading concepts and market perspectives to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Meticulous attention to detail with the capability to make swift, disciplined decisions under stress.
- Proficient in Python programming for use in pricing models, research, or monitoring systems.
