Role Summary
The role of Senior Information Security Engineer involves actively protecting and improving the security posture of Optiver's worldwide infrastructure, spanning cloud services such as AWS and Microsoft 365, as well as on-premise systems. The position demands vigilance in daily security operations, rapid incident response, automation of security procedures, and enforcing best security practices across various teams. Candidates should bring an engineering mindset with keen attention to detail and a preference for effective yet practical solutions.
Primary Responsibilities
- Conduct daily monitoring of security environments, identifying threats, investigating alerts, and managing incident responses both in cloud and on-premise infrastructures.
- Enhance the security configuration of Microsoft 365 and Entra ID platforms by implementing Conditional Access policies, Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), Privileged Identity Management (PIM), Defender solutions, and tenant hardening.
- Develop and maintain automation scripts predominantly in Python and PowerShell to reduce manual security operations and improve threat detection and response.
- Leverage APIs such as Microsoft Graph and REST to integrate and streamline security workflows.
- Perform comprehensive vulnerability assessments, analyze system configurations, and formulate efficient risk reduction strategies.
- Take part in incident response efforts, including investigation, containment, communication with stakeholders, and remediation actions.
- Collaborate closely with teams across engineering, technology, and business units to integrate security best practices effectively throughout the organization.
Candidate Qualifications
- A minimum of five years’ experience in information security or a related technical engineering capacity.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills suited to fast-paced environments.
- Proficiency with both Windows and Linux operating systems, and familiarity with core security technologies such as firewalls, endpoint protection, log management, vulnerability scanning, and network security concepts.
- Experienced in scripting with PowerShell and/or Python to aid security tasks.
- In-depth knowledge of secure identity management, authentication techniques, and modern access control models.
- Hands-on experience with security technologies like Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR), Security Information and Event Management (SIEM), Security Orchestration, Automation and Response (SOAR), and Cloud Access Security Broker (CASB).
- Comfortable securing workloads that operate on-premises (bare-metal or containerized) and on Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) cloud platforms.
- Understanding of identity lifecycle management, role-based access control (RBAC), privileged access management (PAM), and controls around privileged identities.
- Knowledgeable in vulnerability management tools such as Nessus, Tenable, and RunZero, and applying secure configuration standards.
- Experience with data protection strategies, including Data Loss Prevention (DLP) and information classification, using solutions like Microsoft Purview.
