Job description
Overview
The role involves enhancing customer satisfaction by promptly processing orders for non-case stock items through specialized packaging into merchandising displays. This supports efficient packaging department operation by diverting customized display products from the standard production line.
Key Responsibilities
- Package vacuum-sealed and gas-flushed meat products into various types of shipping containers and merchandising displays.
- Maintain responsibility for the assigned work area to ensure production of safe, high-quality food items.
- Report all food safety and quality issues promptly to management and Quality Assurance to ensure swift resolution.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors.
Qualifications and Experience
- Educational background typically below high school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience with 1 to 3 months of related work or training.
- Certification to operate walk-behind lift trucks is required.
- Basic English skills including reading simple words and sentences, writing straightforward correspondence, and understanding basic instructions.
- Ability to communicate effectively one-on-one and in small groups with co-workers.
- Capability to comprehend and follow operational and maintenance manuals, complete routine forms and production documentation.
- Basic arithmetic skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, applicable to measurements and currency.
- Demonstrated common sense in following simple and detailed instructions, handling standardized tasks, and problem-solving with limited variables.
- Skill to assess product quality based on experience and visible inspection.
Physical Demands and Work Conditions
- Ability to stand and walk for 8 to 9 hours daily.
- Capability to regularly lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds, and occasionally up to 100 pounds.
- Physical flexibility to bend, twist, stoop, squat, and reach above shoulder level as needed.
- Good manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
- Work in cold environments with temperatures of 40°F or below.
- Availability to work overtime during peak production times.
