About Marshall and Role Overview
Join Marshall's team as a Laboratory Technician specializing in Special Processes and contribute to upholding exceptional standards in aerospace manufacturing. This role involves operating sophisticated analytical instruments and engaging in chemical process management to ensure compliance with Nadcap and other relevant industry benchmarks. Key Responsibilities
- Ensure accuracy and quality in all laboratory tests and chemical analysis.
- Maintain chemical process solutions within designated operational limits.
- Operate laboratory equipment, chemical process lines, and de-ionised water plant safely and efficiently.
- Keep precise records of laboratory data, calibration, and procedural documentation.
- Perform routine chemical titrations including acid/base, redox, and complexometric methods.
- Calculate concentrations and adjust chemical additions to maintain process control.
- Prepare reagents, standard solutions, and laboratory chemicals.
- Monitor and adhere to periodic testing schedules and control process parameters.
- Identify trends and recommend corrections for chemical solutions.
- Maintain and calibrate laboratory instruments and manage chemical stocks and hazardous materials safely.
- Monitor process lines, maintain tanks, adjust chemical concentrations, and handle waste disposal documentation.
- Maintain laboratory databases, investigate anomalies, assist with audits, and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Support production through preparation of job cards, inspections, and process assistance.

- Strong analytical reasoning with advanced numerical and calculation skills.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to interpret technical specifications and procedures.

- Proficient communication, both written and verbal.
- Competency in Microsoft Excel and other Office applications.

Technical Expertise
- Proficient chemical titration methodologies.
- Understanding of analytical chemistry principles.
- Knowledge of chemical conversion coating and anodising controls.
- Ability to measure conductivity, resistivity, and pH accurately.
- Experience conducting coating weight tests and process troubleshooting.
- Skillful in data analysis and trend evaluation.
Qualifications and Experience
- Essential: GCSE or equivalent in Mathematics, English, and Science.
- Essential: A-Level or equivalent in Chemistry or a related science discipline.
- Desirable: HNC, HND, or Degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Materials Science, or Chemical Engineering.
- Essential: Experience in laboratory or industrial chemical processing settings.
- Essential: Proven safe handling of hazardous chemicals.
- Desirable: Background in aerospace surface treatments and in Nadcap-accredited environments.
