Role Overview
We seek a driven Business Development Manager to join our Sales & Marketing team, focusing on uncovering new business opportunities, expanding key accounts, and implementing strategic sales initiatives to enhance our market presence and increase revenue.
Key Responsibilities
- Actively identify and convert new sales prospects to broaden customer base and boost hotel revenue.
- Manage a portfolio of accounts by delivering targeted sales plans to meet agreed objectives.
- Explore new markets and segments through focused campaigns and seasonal offers.
- Maintain a robust sales pipeline via prospecting, client meetings, networking, site inspections, and familiarisations.
- Track sales metrics and adapt tactics as needed to meet goals.
- Forge and sustain strong relationships with senior decision-makers, travel buyers, meeting planners, agencies, and other key partners.
- Develop customised commercial solutions aligned with client needs and hotel goals.
- Monitor competitors, pricing strategies, market trends and demand fluctuations to inform sales strategies.
- Collaborate with Revenue, Reservations, Marketing, and Operations departments to ensure cohesive client service delivery.
- Keep detailed records of accounts and sales activities within CRM and hotel systems.
- Represent the hotel at client meetings, networking events, industry gatherings, and trade shows.
Candidate Requirements
- Minimum three years progressive hotel sales or business development experience, including at least one year at executive level or higher.
- Background in upper-upscale, luxury, or equivalent hotel environments with proven success in new business acquisition and sales target achievement.
- Experience in the Australian or New Zealand market and knowledge of regional dynamics preferred.
- Relevant tertiary qualification in business, marketing, hospitality, or related fields, or equivalent credentials.
- Strong skills in sales, account management, negotiation, influencing, and strategic planning.
- Commercial acumen to analyse forecasts, sales pipelines, revenue trends, and market data.
- Excellent communication and presentation abilities in English, comfortable interacting with senior stakeholders.
- Proactive, well-organised, results-driven, and team-oriented mindset.
- Familiarity with sales and hotel management systems such as Delphi, Salesforce, Opera, IHG Concerto, or Agency360 is advantageous.
- Willingness to attend occasional evening, weekend, or public holiday events as needed.
- Legal eligibility to work in New Zealand.
