Job description

Role Overview

Join the Ausco Modular team in Karratha as a Yard Hand/Leading Hand where you'll manage maintenance, repairs, and preparation of modular buildings for hire. This permanent, full-time position offers a steady income, work-life balance with no FIFO arrangements, and a supportive small local team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform repairs, maintenance, and upgrades on hire fleet components such as wall panels, doors, windows, flooring, roofing, and fixtures.
  • Operate forklifts to load and unload modules and related equipment.
  • Inspect, clean, and prepare buildings to ensure they are hire-ready.
  • Assist with coordination of deliveries, pickups, and yard logistics.
  • Maintain accurate records and assist with stocktaking activities.
  • Manage customer handovers and respond to inquiries.
  • Support the Operations Manager by leading the yard team’s daily activities.

Candidate Requirements

  • Possess a current driver's licence and high-risk forklift licence.
  • Demonstrate strong hands-on skills in maintenance and repairs.
  • Experience operating hand and power tools.
  • Basic proficiency with computer systems.
  • Preferably have a background in construction, building, or hire yard operations.
  • Be a local Karratha resident or willing to relocate with full working rights.
  • Trade qualifications in Carpentry, Cabinet Making, or Joinery are advantageous but not mandatory.

Employment Conditions and Benefits

  • Hourly pay rate of $64.65 including allowances, plus superannuation.
  • Permanent, full-time employment with a 38-hour workweek.
  • Work schedule from Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM.
  • No FIFO travel requirements: home each night and weekends free.
