Warehouse Porter

Overview

The warehouse porter is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and safety across key warehouse areas to ensure a hazard-free environment for both customers and staff. Responsibilities include handling liquids or substances that could create safety risks, adhering to sanitation guidelines, and maintaining cleaning logs in line with the company’s HACCP program. The role also involves upkeep of cleaning equipment and performing additional maintenance and minor repairs as assigned by management.

Key Duties

• Perform sweeping and general cleaning of both interior and exterior premises of the building.
• Clean and maintain all restrooms throughout the facility.
• Wash windows, doors, and coffee areas as necessary.
• Maintain trash containers and properly operate equipment like trash compactors, cardboard balers, and floor scrubbers when needed.
• Promptly clean up any spills in the warehouse to ensure safety.
• Maintain cleanliness of employee break rooms according to schedules.
• Support department managers with keeping aisles clean.
• Verify all HACCP sanitation guidelines and complete required sanitation logs daily.
• Assist management with additional duties, including minor paint touch-ups and general lighting maintenance.

Qualifications

• Effective communication capabilities.
• Basic familiarity with sanitation procedures and guidelines.
• Helpful to have knowledge of operating floor machines, balers, and compactors.
• Physical ability to lift loads up to 50 pounds.
