About the Role and Location
This position is based in Terrace, British Columbia, Canada. The Wall Attendant will be responsible for a variety of operational tasks at the site, ensuring safety, environmental compliance, and customer service excellence.
Responsibilities
- Inspect arriving loads to identify any prohibited, hazardous, or recyclable materials, ensuring all waste management aligns with environmental regulations.
- Direct traffic flow by guiding customers and vehicles to designated dumping, recycling, or disposal areas safely and efficiently.
- Enforce site safety rules, including verifying that visitors wear proper personal protective equipment (PPE) and stay within safe zones.
- Support site upkeep by maintaining cleanliness, clearing debris, and assisting with maintenance of operational areas.
- Control site access by managing gate operations, monitoring for unauthorized or illegal dumping activities to maintain security.
- Deliver courteous and professional customer service to facility users.
Candidate Qualifications
- Excellent communication skills paired with a strong focus on customer service.
- Ability to perform physically, including standing and walking for extended periods and handling light to moderate physical tasks.
- Comfortable working outdoors under various weather conditions.
- Highly attentive to safety protocols and detail-oriented in performing duties.
- Previous exposure to waste management, traffic control, or similar site operations is advantageous.
- Possession of a valid driver’s license is considered beneficial.
