About the Role
The VIP Driver is responsible for ensuring the safe, dependable, and punctual transportation of designated officials to support their smooth participation in official meetings and events.
Main Duties
- Timely support for operational transportation needs.
- Carry out all official transport duties and maintain comprehensive, accurate records with prompt reporting.
- Coordinate and follow up with logistics for officials' meetings and engagements to guarantee smooth execution of events.
- Communicate and collaborate effectively with both internal and external parties.
- Contribute to maintaining and improving transport documentation to ensure precision and timely updates.
Specific Responsibilities
- Operate official vehicles, providing safe, timely, and efficient transport to assigned officials.
- Conduct airport pickup and drop-off services for officials, ensuring adherence to schedule, comfort, and organizational protocols.
- Comply fully with Minimum Operating Security Standards (MOSS) and other mandated security protocols.
- Perform routine upkeep of assigned vehicles, checking oil, water levels, battery, brakes, and maintain thorough vehicle logs including mileage, fuel use, and servicing records.
- Adhere to all vehicle management policies of the AfCFTA Secretariat, covering planning, coordination, and optimal use of transport resources.
- Keep precise documentation of vehicle inspections, repairs, and maintenance timelines.
- Undertake additional duties as assigned.
Academic and Experience Requirements
- Minimum educational qualification: high school certificate.
- Must hold a valid, clean driver’s license.
- At least three years of relevant driving experience in a registered international or national organization, or public service agency.
- Experience in providing transport services for official missions, VIPs, senior officials, visiting delegations, or diplomats is a significant advantage.
- Certifications in First Aid, CPR, or emergency response are desirable.
- Training in defensive driving, VIP driving, or vehicle mechanics, as well as basic computer skills including MS Word and Excel, will be favored.

- Proficiency in one of the AU’s official languages (English, French, Portuguese, Arabic, Spanish, Kiswahili) is preferred; fluency in multiple AU languages adds value.
