Utilities Shift Technician

Role Summary

The position of Utilities Shift Technician at the Athlone facility entails responsibility for maintenance, repair, troubleshooting, and replacement of utility systems. The role includes supporting maintenance coordination and scheduling with external service providers, contributing to continuous improvements within the utilities function while upholding company policies and client interests.

Key Duties

• Adhere to Maintenance Quality System, including compliance with all SOPs, policies, and current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP).
• Perform both scheduled and reactive maintenance tasks following site procedures.
• Promptly address equipment breakdowns to minimize downtime.
• Ensure that all Environmental, Health, and Safety guidelines and obligations are strictly followed.
• Participate actively in continuous improvement initiatives and identify opportunities to enhance systems.
• Maintain inventory of spare and replacement parts within manufacturing and engineering storage areas.
• Accurately update and manage Maintenance Management System records.
• Utilize and keep up to date computerized maintenance systems (CMMS) and related IT tools.
• Serve as a specialist for Facilities and Maintenance in investigations related to equipment and systems failures, leading root cause analyses when necessary.
• Assist in the development and revision of Maintenance Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Provide technical support during installation of new equipment and introduction of new products.
• Manage documentation processes including filing and archiving of maintenance records.
• Collaborate with Operations, Validation, Engineering, and Quality departments as needed.
• Undertake ongoing training to enhance skills and effectiveness.
• Be available for on-call support during projects and shutdowns.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Candidate Requirements

• Associate degree or technical certification/trade qualification in mechanical, electrical, or a related discipline is mandatory.
• Between 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in facilities and maintenance within a cGMP-compliant commercial manufacturing setting, ideally with exposure to clean utility systems such as WFI (Water for Injection), Pure Steam, and plant infrastructure.
• Hands-on experience using Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
• Demonstrated strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving capabilities.
• Evidence of implementing continuous improvement practices within utilities and facilities, including the use of artificial intelligence (AI) applications.
• Understanding of regulatory and GMP requirements related to instrumentation and calibration.
• Ability to work effectively within self-managed, multi-skilled teams and with contractors, consistently delivering high-quality work.
• Capability to manage safety for oneself and others across all contracted tasks.
• Maintain professional relationships with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.
• Possess a meticulous, analytical, and methodical work approach.
• Strong teamwork orientation and acute attention to detail.
• Effective troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
