About Arup and Role Overview

Arup, a company renowned for its 80-year legacy of impactful and sustainable design, is seeking a Transport Planner to join its Singapore office. This role involves providing transport planning expertise to support projects and bids across the region. The planner will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to conduct detailed transportation studies, carry out traffic impact assessments (TIA), apply both macro and microsimulation modeling, and formulate transport solutions for development and infrastructure initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate with moderate supervision to manage specific elements of transportation and design projects, ensuring quality and precision.
  • Execute traffic analysis, transport modeling, and demand forecasting to support planning and infrastructure projects.
  • Work alongside transportation planners, engineers, and urban planners to devise sustainable transport strategies.
  • Contribute to transportation strategy formulation, policies, and planning studies, maintaining compliance with regulations and safety standards.
  • Represent the transport team in internal forums, aid in small-scale internal projects, support colleagues as required, and help meet project deadlines.

Candidate Profile and Requirements

  • A recognized tertiary qualification in transport planning, civil engineering (preferably with transport modules), urban studies, or related fields is required.
  • At least two years of industry experience in transport planning and modeling within a consulting context is essential.
  • Demonstrated expertise across various areas including transport planning, masterplanning, strategic and microsimulation modelling, junction modelling, and traffic impact assessments.
  • Good understanding of Singapore's regulatory framework, especially concerning Land Transport Authority (LTA) and Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) processes.
  • Proficiency in transport modeling software like SIDRA, VISSIM, VISUM, or equivalent for conducting complex TIAs.
  • Membership or substantial progress towards membership of professional industry bodies is advantageous.
