Job description
Overview
The Tendering Engineer role supports business expansion by producing precise, competitive, and compliant proposals focused on substation automation, protection, control, telecom, and metering & diagnostics systems. This role involves managing end-to-end tender processes for Grid Automation projects, starting from client requirement analysis to proposal submission, ensuring technical and commercial alignment, risk mitigation, and stakeholder collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze customer requests and Requests for Quotation (RFQ) to define and present products, services, and solutions covering DS Agile, G500, GPG, AAA portfolios, Cyber Security, MiCOM, and Multilin products, including Telecom and Metering & Diagnostics scopes where applicable.
- Ensure that proposals meet technical specifications and tender requirements fully and are compliant.
- Identify and document key risks and develop mitigation plans in the Risk & Opportunity register.
- Implement and manage Return of Experience (ROE) processes effectively.
- Align proposals with commercial and execution strategies.
- Obtain necessary technical derogations and approvals for final technical solutions.
- Conduct site assessments for Brownfield or existing substations and sites, including visits and reviews.
- Maintain typical circuit schemes and solutions in the Tendering Tool to streamline future tender submissions.
- Manage timeline adherence for proposal delivery, ensuring high-quality bids are submitted promptly to support sales.
- Review and respond to technical clarifications during bidding and present solutions to customers.
- Assist in order processing following signed contracts or purchase orders while ensuring budget margins and improving operational turnover processes.
- Support sales teams in technical and commercial meetings or negotiations with customers.
- Manage the full bid lifecycle ensuring compliance with company policies and tender instructions.
- Coordinate bid management processes and package offerings appropriately toward clients.
- Conduct internal tender reviews with all stakeholders according to deadlines.
- Lead transfer meetings and hand over project documentation to operations teams.
- Oversee costing and pricing activities, including reviewing submission percentages and win rates, analyzing costs and prices, and integrating third-party quotes.
- Ensure accurate costing data in estimation tools, reflecting latest updates.
- Drive cost optimization and risk analysis by challenging product and delivery costs in bids.
- Perform commercial and technical win-loss analysis of bids.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or relevant equivalent.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in tendering, commercial roles, engineering, or related fields.
- In-depth knowledge of grid automation, protection systems, and DCS/SCS technologies.
- Proficient verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Available for international travel up to 10-15% depending on business requirements.
Preferred Attributes
- Knowledge of Telecom and Metering & Diagnostics systems is advantageous.
- Familiarity with customer requirements and standards specific to the MENAT region.
- Ability to work effectively in hybrid working environments.
- Understanding of commercial contracting procedures and guidelines.
- Proactive mindset complemented by excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
