Job description
Position Overview
The Renfrew County District School Board is seeking a Temporary Custodian for Cobden Public School in Cobden, Ontario. This role begins immediately and continues until November 1, 2027, with potential for adjustment depending on the incumbent's return.
Work Schedule
- The position is 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week.
- Standard work hours are 3:00 pm to 11:30 pm.
- Schedules may vary during school breaks.
Role Responsibilities
- Perform various routine cleaning tasks including rooms, washrooms, floors, windows, blackboards, and furniture.
- Conduct building and equipment maintenance such as repairing lockers, doors, replacing fuses, resetting breakers, and unclogging drains.
- Operate custodial equipment and address minor malfunctions.
- Manage grounds maintenance duties including snow removal and lawn care using manual or mechanized equipment.
- Assist with unloading heavy supplies or materials.
- Open and close the building and respond to emergency calls as necessary.
- Work according to Occupational Health and Safety regulations and Board policies to ensure safety for all building occupants.
Qualifications and Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent (Grade 12) and a minimum of one year of experience in custodial work.
- Ability to use floor finishing techniques like stripping, resealing, and refinishing.
- Competent in using email and office software such as Excel and Word is considered an asset.
- Knowledgeable about WHMIS and able to communicate effectively following written and oral instructions.
- Capable of working independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Strong work ethic with reliability and responsibility towards tasks and safety.
Additional Information
- Employment will adhere to the CUPE 1247 Collective Agreement and RCDSB administrative procedures.
- Priority consideration will be given to current bargaining unit members.
