Team Member

Overview

The Team Member role involves engaging with customers and colleagues while supporting sales initiatives and completing various assigned duties to deliver an outstanding customer experience at Tractor Supply Company.

Core Responsibilities

• Consistently maintain punctual and dependable attendance.
• Work designated shifts, including flexibility to cover varied hours such as evenings, weekends, and overtime based on operational needs.
• Provide Legendary Customer Service by greeting customers, identifying their needs, suggesting appropriate products, and ensuring value and appreciation.
• Perform daily tasks including operating cash registers with adherence to cash handling guidelines, replenishing merchandise, participating in freight processing, completing merchandising planograms, assembling products, carrying out cleaning duties, implementing price changes, and assisting customers with loading.
• Operate machinery such as forklifts and cardboard balers when age requirements are met.
• Maintain the care and sanitation of poultry holding areas and ensure the well-being of birds.
• Complete all necessary documentation related to these tasks promptly and accurately.
• Undertake additional duties as assigned by supervisors.

Qualifications

No prior work experience is required; however, retail experience or familiarity with farming, ranching, pet or equine care, or welding is strongly favored. A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred but not mandatory. Regardless, candidates must possess basic literacy and numeracy skills.

Preferred Skills

• Knowledge of farming, ranching, pet/equine care, or welding.
• Ability to read, write, and perform accurate counting.
• Strong communication capabilities and problem-solving aptitude.
• Basic computer proficiency.
• Ability to interact effectively with colleagues and resolve conflicts ethically and amicably.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

• Work primarily indoors with moderate noise levels; store floors and exterior lots are hard surfaces.
• Shifts generally last between 4 and over 10 hours, varying by location.
• Commitment to promote a safe workplace by following company safety protocols and training.
• Capacity to regularly move merchandise weighing up to 50 pounds and operate equipment like pallet jacks, forklifts, balers, and various store tools.
• Physical activities include prolonged standing, kneeling, bending, twisting, stooping, squatting, climbing ladders, and overhead reaching.
• Ability to handle birds/poultry and maintain relevant safety certifications such as propane dispensing (for those aged 18 and above).
