Role Overview
We are looking for a committed and detail-focused Tax Associate based in Chembur East, Mumbai. The candidate should have between 1 to 4 years of experience in various aspects of taxation including legislation, litigation, and compliance. The role focuses on handling both direct and indirect tax duties, managing disputes, assisting in assessments, and ensuring compliance with the latest tax regulations.
Primary Responsibilities
- Prepare and submit Direct and Indirect Tax returns within prescribed statutory deadlines.
- Ensure adherence to laws related to Income Tax, GST, TDS, and other relevant tax statutes.
- Manage tax litigation processes such as formulating responses to notices, appeals, and legal submissions.
- Liaise with tax authorities, consultants, and legal teams concerning assessments, hearings, and dispute matters.
- Support tax assessments, audits, inquiries, and appellate procedures.
- Conduct research on tax laws, judicial precedents, circulars, and notifications to assist litigation and advisory tasks.
- Keep track of amendments in tax legislation and analyze their organizational impact.
- Compile tax computations, reconciliations, and compliance-related reports.
- Maintain meticulous documentation for both compliance and litigation cases.
- Aid tax planning activities and suggest improvements to existing processes.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- CA qualified or CA semi-qualified is mandatory.
- 1-4 years of practical experience in taxation practices, including legislative and litigation aspects.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Direct Tax, GST, TDS, and statutory obligations.
- Solid understanding of tax legislation and dispute resolution procedures.
- Proficient in preparing formal replies, appeals, and submissions to tax authorities.
- Strong analytical capabilities combined with legal research aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and familiarity with accounting or ERP software.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks effectively and meet deadlines consistently.
Preferred Candidate Attributes
- Experience dealing hands-on with tax assessments, appeals, and litigation.
- Up-to-date knowledge of ongoing changes in tax regulations, judicial decisions, and regulatory reforms.
- Capable of working independently and collaboratively within a dynamic environment.
