Systems/DevOps Engineer

Overview

Join Deloitte's AI team in Melbourne to architect and operate the foundational platforms that support AI-driven products and solutions. This role involves direct accountability over cloud environments, Kubernetes clusters, and deployment automation frameworks.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and sustain cloud-native infrastructure to power AI applications with a focus on scalability, reliability, and security.
• Address critical challenges related to cybersecurity, trustworthiness, system resilience, and digital transformation initiatives.
• Engage in mentorship and leadership activities that amplify your impact within the team.
• Collaborate effectively across development, quality assurance, and operations teams to streamline release processes and eliminate delivery bottlenecks.
• Maintain and enhance CI/CD pipelines leveraging tools such as GitHub, Azure DevOps, and ArgoCD to ensure repeatable, reliable deployments.
• Manage cloud platforms including Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services, and Google Cloud Platform.
• Implement Infrastructure as Code practices primarily using Terraform.
• Monitor system performance and uptime while implementing controls to manage secrets, credentials, and DevSecOps compliance.

Team Context

The role is within Deloitte's National Generative AI and Assets team, part of the Strategy, Transformation & Innovation division focusing on blending design, AI, and software development to create practical solutions that drive business productivity and smarter decision-making.

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Between 3 and 5 years experience in Systems or DevOps engineering roles.
• Proven expertise in Kubernetes workload deployment and management.
• Practical experience on cloud services such as Azure, AWS, or GCP.
• Strong familiarity with CI/CD tools and workflows, specifically GitHub, Azure DevOps (ADO), and ArgoCD.
• Competence in writing Infrastructure as Code via Terraform.
• Solid background in Linux/Unix systems, networking, database usage, messaging systems, and security fundamentals.
• Ability to automate tasks using scripting languages including Bash, PowerShell, or Python.
• Bonus: Understanding of authentication and security protocols such as OAuth, SAML, or OpenID Connect and experience in mature managed services environments.
