Job Summary

This Systems Engineer role is part of the Storage Operations Team within Global Systems Support. The position involves supporting, certifying, and documenting storage and backup infrastructure as well as functioning as a Level 2 escalation resource. The role requires collaboration with various departments including Systems, Database, Engineering, Asset Management, Product Development, Operations, Audit, Risk, and other Technology teams, necessitating strong analytical and communication abilities.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Maintain high availability of Visa's products in a dynamic environment.
• Provide support and administration for storage solutions.
• Serve as an escalation point for storage infrastructure issues at Level 2.
• Develop technical design and build documentation for storage and backup infrastructures.
• Conduct detailed analysis, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis across the entire storage and backup ecosystem.
• Implement system monitoring strategies, including alerting and remediation for SAN, NAS, and backup operations.
• Continuously update knowledge on multiple infrastructure domains and emerging storage technologies.
• Prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively while maintaining high-quality customer service.

Experience and Skills Required

• At least 4 years' hands-on experience in supporting and administering storage systems.
• Proficient in managing large-scale enterprise data center environments.
• Experience with automation tools such as Ansible and Python is desirable.
• Hands-on expertise with EMC, Hitachi Data Systems (HDS), and IBM midrange storage arrays.
• Practical knowledge of SAN switches and routers from Brocade and Cisco.
• Experience with NAS storage solutions like Isilon and NetApp.
• Understanding of backup technologies including Virtual Tape Libraries (VTL).
• Experience managing backup software such as Symantec NetBackup and EMC Data Domain.
• Familiarity with UNIX variants (Linux, AIX, Solaris), VMware or similar hypervisors, and Windows environments.
• Strong knowledge of storage configuration tools including LVM, Native MPIO, EMC PowerPath, and HDS HDLM.
• Insight into disaster recovery practices related to storage systems including disk replication, snapshots, and proven recovery techniques.
• Competent scripting skills in Windows and UNIX platforms.
• Effective communication skills combined with strong interpersonal abilities.
• Self-motivated learner keen on new storage technologies.
• Experience in monitoring, tuning, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis in storage infrastructures.
• Organized and analytical mindset focusing on quality assurance and customer satisfaction.

Additional Information

Visa requires employees to be onsite at least three days a week, with specific expectations to be discussed by the hiring manager.

Qualification Requirements

• A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
• Applicants must have either 2+ years of applicable work experience with a Bachelor's degree or 5+ years of relevant work experience without.
• Preferred candidates possess 3+ years relevant experience with a Bachelor's or 2+ years with an advanced degree such as Master's or MBA.
