Job description
Overview
We are looking for an experienced and driven System Test Manager to lead our testing team and ensure the delivery of superior software products. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and overseeing all testing activities, establishing robust test strategies, and efficiently managing resources to meet project deadlines and quality standards. The role includes supporting night and after-office hour testing when necessary.
Key Duties
- Design, implement, and uphold detailed test strategies, plans, and processes that align with business goals and project needs.
- Lead and inspire a team of testers to maintain high productivity, quality, and motivation.
- Work closely with the project manager, software manager, and stakeholders to clarify requirements and determine the scope of testing.
- Manage test execution throughout all phases: functional, regression, integration, performance, and user acceptance testing.
- Track and report essential testing metrics while providing updates on progress, quality, and risks to senior leadership.
- Recognize, evaluate, and mitigate risks tied to software releases and deployments.
- Administer test environments, tools, and automation frameworks to improve testing efficiency and coverage.
- Ensure adherence to industry standards and company quality policies.
- Promote continuous enhancement of testing processes based on feedback and retrospectives.
- Coordinate test efforts with external vendors or partners when applicable.
- Provide support for testing activities during nights and after regular hours as needed.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline.
- Minimum of 15 years’ experience in software testing and quality assurance, including at least 10 years in managerial roles overseeing comprehensive testing for large-scale projects in Agile and Waterfall settings.
- Experience with large-scale project testing and deployment in the transport or traffic management sector, especially involving enterprise-level Traffic Management Systems, is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of software development life cycle (SDLC) and various testing methodologies such as Agile and Waterfall.
- Hands-on familiarity with test management tools (like JIRA, TestRail), automation software (such as Selenium, UFT), and defect tracking systems.
- Proven track record collaborating with vendors and managing stakeholder relations effectively.
- In-depth knowledge of test management techniques and best practices.
- Excellent leadership qualities along with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Sharp analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Able to juggle multiple projects and priorities in a dynamic environment.
- Knowledge of performance testing is an added advantage.
