Job description

About the Role

We are looking for compassionate Support Workers to assist individuals in Whanganui who have complex behavioural and medical needs. You'll help manage intense emotions and health challenges while fostering safety and encouraging positive behaviour in those you support.

In your role, you'll support individuals to build independence and acquire essential daily living skills. Your duties will vary based on individual needs and may include assistance with transportation, employment, financial tasks, meal preparation, shopping, cleaning, personal hygiene, and medication administration. Flexibility is essential as shifts may include daytime, evenings, overnight, and weekends.

The role demands physical fitness, resilience, and confidence to handle risks and respond to challenging situations effectively. Your efforts will contribute to creating a supportive environment enabling meaningful progress.

What You Bring

  • A strong desire to develop a career as a Support Worker with a positive and enthusiastic attitude is highly valued; prior health or disability sector experience is not mandatory.
  • Ability to effectively navigate challenging behaviours.
  • Willingness and availability to work flexible shifts including weekends and overnight wakeover shifts.
  • Comfortable and proficient with daily use of computers and tablets.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Physical fitness to provide required physical assistance.
  • Possession of a valid Full New Zealand driver's license.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Hourly pay ranges from $24.68 to $30.13 based on relevant qualifications, with potential raises as you complete additional qualifications.
