Support Officer - Defence Assistance Program

Overview

We are seeking a dedicated full-time Support Officer to join our Defence Assistance Program located at Robertson Barracks, Darwin. In this role, you will provide valuable support to employees with disabilities, helping them gain confidence and excel in their job responsibilities while contributing to the vital work of Defence personnel.

Key Duties

• Assist and oversee a small team of employees with disabilities during their daily work activities.
• Deliver personalized coaching and encouragement to build skills and workplace confidence.
• Support team members in adapting to the workplace environment and understanding their tasks, fostering a sense of inclusion within the Defence community.
• Maintain straightforward progress notes and update support plans regularly.
• Collaborate closely with Defence staff to ensure tasks are completed safely, timely, and to high standards.
• Participate in training sessions and team meetings while adhering to workplace safety and support protocols.

Candidate Requirements

• A calm and optimistic disposition with a genuine passion for assisting others.
• Experience supporting individuals with disabilities is preferred; however, a strong motivation to make a difference is essential.
• Excellent communication skills to provide clear task instructions and handle diverse situations.
• Proficiency in computers and Microsoft Office applications including Word, Outlook, and Excel.
• Ability to work collaboratively and form positive relationships with team members and Defence personnel.
• Australian citizenship is mandatory to apply for Baseline Security Clearance.
