Job description

Role Overview

The Supply Planning Assistant is responsible for supporting the supply planning processes to ensure that product and material availability aligns with demand forecasts, inventory goals, and overall business needs. This involves supporting supply schedules, replenishment activities, inventory monitoring, as well as coordinating with procurement, suppliers, warehouse, logistics, and operations teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in daily and periodic supply planning and replenishment tasks.
  • Track inventory levels, demand forecasts, open purchase orders, and supply availability.
  • Support creation and upkeep of supply plans, replenishment timetables, and purchasing needs.
  • Analyze inventory and supply data to detect shortages, surplus stock, supply gaps, and delivery risks.
  • Liaise with procurement and suppliers concerning order quantities, lead times, availability, and delivery timelines.
  • Collaborate with warehouse and logistics teams to oversee inbound shipments, stock movement, and expected receipts.
  • Maintain accurate records of supply, inventory, product, supplier, and planning data within relevant systems.
  • Support purchase order planning and follow-up aligned with inventory demands and supply plans.
  • Compare planned supply against actuals and report significant variances or risks.
  • Assist in inventory allocation, replenishment, stock transfers, and related supply activities as needed.
  • Prepare reports on supply planning, inventory summaries, order tracking, and operational updates.
  • Help investigate supply delays, shortages, discrepancies, and planning issues.
  • Coordinate cross-functional planning efforts with procurement, sales, merchandising, logistics, and operations.
  • Contribute ideas and efforts to improve supply planning accuracy, inventory usage, and planning procedures.
  • Perform other analytical, clerical, and operational tasks related to supply planning as assigned.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Operations, Business Administration, Procurement, or similar fields.
  • Solid understanding of supply planning, inventory control, procurement, replenishment, and logistics processes.
  • Strong analytical and numerical aptitude with keen attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Capability to analyze inventory, supply, orders, and demand data proficiently.
  • Excellent organizational, coordination, and time management skills.
  • Effective problem-solving skills with strong follow-up discipline.
  • Proficient written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to juggle multiple planning tasks, priorities, and deadlines effectively.
  • Comfortable collaborating with procurement, suppliers, warehouse, logistics, inventory, and operations teams.
  • Familiarity with ERP, supply planning software, inventory management, or Material Requirements Planning (MRP) systems is advantageous.
  • A proactive mindset to identify potential supply risks, shortages, and operational challenges.
  • High attention to data accuracy and adherence to processes.
  • Systematic working style with reliable maintenance of planning documentation.
  • Flexible and adaptable to changing supply, demand, and business environments.
  • Eagerness to learn new planning tools, systems, and supply chain practices.
