Store Manager

About the Role

Join the Pet Valu family, one of North America's leading pet retail operators, encompassing brands such as Pet Valu, Paulmac's Pet Food, Bosley's, Tisol, and Total Pet. We cater to pet parents providing nutrition and supplies for dogs, cats, birds, fish, reptiles, and small animals. Our stores actively support local shelters, rescues, and charities through adoption events, food bank programs, and fundraising initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and develop your store team to consistently deliver excellent customer service, assisting customers in finding optimal pet care solutions.
• Establish and nurture positive relationships with the local community including organizations like Humane Societies.
• Oversee recruitment, scheduling, training, task allocation, supervision, and coaching of store employees.
• Ensure compliance with corporate operational standards and procedures across the team.
• Manage administrative duties including order coordination, inventory control, store and safety audits, minor repairs, and corporate paperwork.
• Drive store performance by coordinating team efforts to meet business targets.
• Perform additional duties as required.

Qualifications and Experience

• At least two years of experience in customer service and retail store management.
• A passion for growth and learning within the pet care sector.
• Friendly, outgoing personality coupled with strong customer service focus.
• Availability to work weekends and evenings as per schedule requirements.
• Reliable transportation to commute to the Burnaby store location.
• Ability to coach employees effectively on sales techniques and customer service excellence.
• Skilled in conflict recognition and escalation within teams.
• Proficient with Point of Sale (POS) systems.
• Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs repeatedly.
• Previous industry experience considered advantageous.
