Putnamville Correctional Facility, located in Greencastle, Indiana, is a medium-security institution housing over 2,500 incarcerated adult males. Role Overview

The Stores Clerk will undertake a broad range of duties related to managing the commissary operations. This includes stocking, distributing, and monitoring goods and supplies intended for incarcerated individuals. Responsibilities also encompass transporting supplies from the warehouse to the commissary and supervising inmates assisting with these tasks.

Key Responsibilities

• Verify all incoming purchase orders and authorize receipt of goods in the storeroom.
• Communicate with vendors concerning incomplete shipments or order discrepancies.
• Maintain meticulous records of inventory and procurement orders.
• Assess and recommend improvements to record-keeping and storage processes.
• Ensure correct storage practices and stock rotation, especially for perishables.
• Advise on procurement of new warehouse equipment and oversee necessary maintenance.
• Manage assembly of equipment received in disassembled form.
• Potentially oversee the security of incarcerated individuals and staff in the warehouse as required.

Candidate Qualifications and Skills

• Comprehensive understanding of requisitioning, inventory control, and distribution procedures.
• Sound knowledge of stock items, proper storage techniques for various goods, and efficient space utilization compliant with state and federal regulations.
• Effective verbal and written communication capabilities.
• Practical familiarity with state rules related to handling and storing food and perishable items.
• Capability to instruct inmates and staff on equipment use and proper storage methods.
• Proven ability to maintain detailed and precise inventory and purchasing documentation.
• Competency in operating warehouse mechanical equipment such as forklifts and hand trucks.

The role does not require a formal degree; however, relevant practical experience performing similar responsibilities will be valued. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to carry out essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.
