Role Overview

As a Staff Software Engineer, you will be pivotal in steering the technical vision and implementation for key products and systems used by millions in Southeast Asia. This hands-on position demands ownership over system design, coding, and driving engineering projects from concept through deployment.

Key Responsibilities

• Leading the design and implementation of critical products, systems, and engineering initiatives.
• Architecting scalable, dependable systems encompassing backend, frontend, APIs, databases, and infrastructure.
• Contributing actively through coding, prototyping, code reviews, debugging, and resolving production issues.
• Making architectural decisions balancing speed, scalability, reliability, cost, and maintainability.
• Translating complex, ambiguous product challenges into actionable technical solutions and plans.
• Improving engineering standards by enhancing system design, testing protocols, security measures, observability, and development workflows.
• Leading essential technical projects and mentoring engineers across multiple teams.

Required Qualifications

• At least 7 years of professional software engineering experience delivering production-quality systems.
• In-depth knowledge in backend development, frontend frameworks, distributed systems, APIs, databases, or cloud infrastructure.
• Exceptional skills in designing architectures for complex, large-scale systems.
• Strong programming skills with a commitment to staying hands-on.
• A proven history of leading significant engineering projects from design to deployment.
• Capability to make informed technical trade-offs and influence engineering teams to resolve intricate production challenges.

Preferred Skills

• Experience managing the scaling of engineering teams, systems, or development methodologies amid rapid growth.
• Familiarity with operating across multiple products, diverse markets, or international boundaries.

Work Environment and Language

This role is entirely remote, welcoming candidates worldwide who can perform efficiently in a distributed, dynamic international team. Proficiency in English is essential as it is the primary language used across the global workforce.
