Job description

Our Story

The a2 Milk Company is a pioneering force in the dairy industry, dedicated to delivering the unique a2 Milk® and fostering a sustainable approach to dairy that benefits people and the planet. Our ambition is to create a world free from A1 milk while nourishing communities globally.

Role Overview

Situated in our Auckland CBD office and reporting directly to the Head of Strategic Sourcing, this role plays a crucial supporting function within our Strategic Sourcing team covering both Direct Materials and Indirect Spend categories.

This role is highly operational and hands-on, combining responsibilities like managing sourcing coordination, procurement administration, data analysis, and supplier interaction. You’ll collaborate closely with Sourcing Managers to drive sourcing projects forward, uphold robust procurement procedures, and deliver data-driven insights for commercial decisions.

There is substantial opportunity for growth, with the prospect of assuming greater category ownership over time by managing lower-spend categories end-to-end.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinating various sourcing processes such as Request for Information (RFI), Request for Quote (RFQ), Request for Proposal (RFP), and tenders, including liaising with suppliers, handling documentation, evaluating submissions, and following up.
  • Supporting sourcing initiatives across both Direct Materials and Indirect Spend segments in partnership with Sourcing Managers and key internal stakeholders.
  • Conducting thorough analyses on spend, suppliers, pricing structures, and market conditions to uncover opportunities that enhance sourcing decisions.
  • Generating detailed reports, dashboards, and analytics concerning sourcing activities, savings, supplier performance, and procurement metrics.
  • Keeping supplier master data, pricing details, contract information, and procurement documentation accurate within ERP and procurement platforms.
  • Assisting with supplier onboarding, qualification procedures, compliance checks, and performance management.
  • Monitoring commodity price indices, market developments, and supplier pricing trends to inform and guide sourcing strategies.
  • Supporting adherence to procurement governance, compliance with policies, audit preparedness, and the maintenance of process controls.
  • Contributing to continuous improvements in processes and data quality within the Strategic Sourcing function.
  • Eventually taking charge of selected lower-spend categories by crafting sourcing strategies, managing supplier partnerships, and securing commercial results.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is an organized, analytical, and commercially driven team player who exhibits innovative thinking and a strong desire to learn. You will have genuine enthusiasm for advancing your sourcing capabilities and progressively managing greater responsibility.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Between 3 to 5 years of experience in procurement, sourcing, supply chain, or commercial support functions.
  • Hands-on experience supporting RFI, RFQ, RFP, and tender processes.
  • Proficiency in Excel with strong analytical skills; familiarity with Power BI is a plus.
  • Experience working with ERP or procurement software and managing supplier information.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, organization, and multitasking abilities.
  • Effective communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • A proactive outlook with a keen interest in progressing toward category ownership.
  • Background in FMCG, food manufacturing, or dairy industries, and MCIPS accreditation would be beneficial.

Our Commitment

We prioritize our team members' work-life balance through flexible work arrangements, generous parental leave, family care support, and initiatives promoting wellbeing. This position supports flexible working options to help maintain a healthy personal and professional balance. Our culture fosters workforce engagement, career growth, and mental health awareness.
