Role Overview

We seek individuals with a solid foundation in developing effective products or systems, capable of managing complex environments, detail-oriented, and eager to learn new technologies. This role entails building and sustaining the software underpinning Telnyx’s communication and connectivity offerings. You will handle components like API gateways, authentication, and rate limiting, and collaborate closely with other engineering teams to enhance service exposures and monitoring.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain APIs, services, and systems integral to Telnyx’s engineering operations.
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues spanning gateway, authentication, network, and application areas.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to design and implement new features at scale.
• Enhance engineering methodologies, tooling, processes, monitoring, and system reliability.

Candidate Profile

• Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in software development using Elixir.
• Strong understanding of functional programming principles and commitment to mastering Elixir.
• Demonstrates balanced decision-making, optimizing for both speed and long-term benefits.
• Experience managing relational databases at scale.
• Familiarity with the complexities of concurrent and distributed systems.
• Thorough knowledge of microservices architecture, including common patterns and pitfalls.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Consul, Prometheus, Grafana, and RabbitMQ.
• Continually updates and shares knowledge on emerging technologies and best practices.
• Collaborative mindset prioritizing team success.

Preferred Qualifications

• Background in developing or maintaining customer-facing APIs, gateways, authentication platforms, or internal tooling.
• Comfort working in dynamic, product-focused settings.
• Exposure to Envoy service proxy technology.
