About the Role
We are seeking a passionate Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) who considers quality a fundamental principle rather than just a phase in the software development process. This role involves defining testing standards, supporting engineering teams, and fostering a shared responsibility toward quality across the software lifecycle. Working within a fast-paced, collaborative environment that emphasizes iterative releases, your focus will be ensuring seamless integration and performance across all components.
Responsibilities
- Create, enhance, and sustain test automation frameworks from the ground up or by improving existing solutions.
- Establish and enforce standards that guarantee consistent test quality and reliable releases.
- Develop high-quality, maintainable integration and end-to-end tests that adhere to production engineering guidelines.
- Build reusable testing utilities, mocks, and simulators to support various testing needs.
- Contribute to evolving the overall testing strategy across multiple products or services.
- Collaborate closely with engineers, product managers, and delivery leads to embed quality considerations from the earliest stages.
- Design comprehensive testing approaches combining automation, exploratory testing, and regression validations.
- Implement and maintain automated testing frameworks integrated within CI/CD pipelines.
- Manage test suites and regression packs to keep them streamlined, relevant, and effective.
- Conduct front-end, back-end, API, and microservices testing using tools such as Playwright, Cypress, Postman, and RestAssured.
- Lead performance testing efforts utilizing tools like K6 and JMeter.
- Engage with cross-functional teams to ensure thorough integration and functionality testing across squads.
- Participate actively in testing cycles including issue investigation, test development, manual QA support, and release sign-offs.
- Analyze defects and production problems, verifying fixes through automation tests.
Qualifications
- Degree or diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- Certifications such as CSTAE or ASTQB ISTQB Advanced Certification.
- Certified Automation Tester credentials (e.g., Cypress, Playwright).
- Experience with pipeline and event-driven architectures like Kafka, AWS EventBridge, AWS Step Functions, queues, streams, and Snaplogic.
Required Experience and Skills
- Minimum of 4 years’ hands-on experience in test automation.
- Proven expertise in building and sustaining test automation frameworks and API testing tools beyond mere execution.
- Proficient in writing automated tests using Typescript.
- Strong capability in designing and executing end-to-end testing strategies aligned with Agile methodologies.
- Experience collaborating early in the SDLC with product managers, engineers, and delivery managers to ensure embedded quality.
- Familiarity with agile continuous delivery teams, coordinating daily with cross-functional stakeholders to prioritize and resolve defects effectively.
Preferred Attributes
- Deep appreciation for software quality and a commitment to continuous team-wide improvements.
- A collaborative approach, constructively engaging with engineers and product teams to integrate quality early on.
- Proactive mindset focused on enhancing automation and testing processes continuously.
- Strong critical thinking skills, applying thorough investigation to uncover root causes in testing.
- Adaptability to changing priorities in dynamic, fast-paced Agile environments.
- Detail orientation while maintaining a broader perspective of testing strategies and outcomes.
- Ownership mentality ensuring the overall health and effectiveness of QA processes.
- Eagerness to learn and evolve alongside advancing systems and tooling.
Interview Process
- Initial screening call with recruitment to share company values and clarify candidate aspirations.
- Brief discussion with an Engineering Manager regarding team, product, technology, and candidate suitability.
- Completion of a technical test remotely, followed by an evaluation of the submission.
- A comprehensive final interview involving multiple members of the engineering leadership team, reviewing the technical test and discussing design decisions.
- Final 60-minute conversation with the Head of Architecture & Engineering.
