Overview
Comer Group Ireland seeks a meticulous Snagging Operative to enhance our construction team at the Sandyford location. This position demands keen observation for quality in various construction aspects, ensuring all details align perfectly before project handovers.
Job Purpose
The primary responsibility is to examine construction projects to pinpoint defects, unfinished tasks, and workmanship issues. Collaboration with Site Managers, subcontractors, and trades is essential to uphold quality standards and project specifications.
Responsibilities
- Perform thorough inspections on residential and commercial construction works.
- Identify and document defects, incomplete tasks, and areas needing correction.
- Accurately produce snagging checklists with clear descriptions of pending works.
- Examine finishes including plaster, paint, tiling, flooring, carpentry, doors, windows, kitchens, bathrooms, and other components.
- Verify workmanship aligns with drawings, specifications, and company quality standards.
- Capture photographic evidence and maintain precise records of identified snags.
- Coordinate with Site Managers and relevant contractors for remediation actions.
- Reassess rectified snags to confirm adequate resolution.
- Support pre-handover and final quality assurance inspections.
- Track progress of outstanding snagging items and report significant or recurring defects.
- Maintain high accuracy and attention to detail consistently.
- Adhere strictly to company Health & Safety policies and site regulations.
- Undertake additional reasonable tasks as required by Site or Contracts Managers.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Experience in construction, snagging, quality inspection, or a related trade.
- Solid understanding of construction practices and building finishes.
- Exceptional attention to detail with capability to detect workmanship defects.
- Competency in reading and interpreting construction drawings and specifications.
- Effective organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a team.
- Proficient IT skills, including use of smartphones or tablets for photography, reporting, and snagging software.
- Possession of a full clean driving licence is advantageous.
- Holding Safe Pass and other relevant construction training is preferred.
