Job description
Job Overview
We are seeking a seasoned Site Traffic Management Supervisor (STMS) to direct traffic management activities on civil construction sites. This position demands a proactive leader who prioritises site safety, maintains clear communication, and understands the critical responsibilities involved in supervising traffic control operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage traffic management operations on civil sites.
- Develop, implement, and uphold approved Traffic Management Plans (TMPs).
- Provide briefings and supervision to Traffic Controllers working on site.
- Ensure all traffic control procedures comply with NZTA standards and site-specific requirements.
- Collaborate with site supervisors, local councils, and contractors to facilitate smooth operations.
- Continuously monitor safety, compliance, and site conditions throughout each workday.
- Maintain and organise site documentation and records related to traffic management.
Performance Expectations
- Arrive fully prepared and effectively manage the site from the outset.
- Set clear roles and expectations for the traffic control team.
- Proactively identify potential risks and address them promptly.
- Communicate effectively and calmly in high-pressure situations.
- Strictly adhere to compliance standards without taking shortcuts.
- Ensure sites are left safe, well-controlled, and ready for audits.
Mandatory Qualifications and Experience
- Possession of a current Practicing STMS qualification.
- Demonstrable experience in supervising traffic management on civil construction projects.
- Thorough knowledge of Traffic Management Plans and related traffic control regulations.
- Certification in ConstructSafe or Site Safe programs.
- Holder of a Full Class 1 Driver's License (Class 2 preferred).
Preferred Additional Qualifications
- Experience with roading or large infrastructure projects.
- Background in leadership or mentoring roles.
- Additional certifications related to traffic management or civil construction.
