Job Overview
We are looking for an experienced Senior Oracle Database Engineer to provide expert support for technology initiatives across enterprise environments in Dubai, UAE. This role demands deep proficiency in Oracle database administration and performance optimization, coupled with a keen interest in automating routine DBA tasks through contemporary automation tools.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer and maintain Oracle databases, including Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC) and Oracle Data Guard.
- Oversee database operations on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and AWS platforms.
- Manage and monitor databases via Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM).
- Execute database backup and recovery using RMAN.
- Apply database patches and handle migrations efficiently.
- Perform SQL and database performance tuning to resolve issues and ensure stability.
- Enhance operational effectiveness by automating repetitive Oracle DBA activities using tools like Ansible, Jenkins, Terraform, and Groovy.
- Support multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment, including occasional out-of-hours and weekend support when necessary.
Required Skills and Experience
- Minimum of 8 years of hands-on Oracle database engineering experience in large organizations.
- Proficient in Oracle Database Administration, Oracle RAC, Oracle Data Guard, OEM, and RMAN.
- Strong familiarity with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and AWS environments.
- Competent in database patching, migrations, SQL tuning, and overall database performance optimization.
- Good knowledge of SQL and/or PL/SQL programming.
- Understanding of Unix/Linux operating systems and scripting skills in Bash and Python.
- Experience working within Agile methodologies.
- Familiarity with automation and DevOps tools such as Ansible, Jenkins, Terraform, Groovy, and Git is advantageous.
- Experience with banking and analytical databases is a plus.
- Professional certifications related to Oracle technologies are desirable.
Other Information
The candidate should be able to operate under pressure and provide critical support outside normal working hours as required. The role is based in Dubai, UAE, within the Information Technology and Services sector.
