Job description
Role Overview
Tiaki Wai is seeking a Senior Technical Advisor to play a pivotal role in leading and supporting water network operations. This full-time position (40 hours/week) is based at the Rongotai depot in Wellington and involves providing expert technical leadership across drinking water, wastewater, and stormwater services.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and provide expert guidance on complex water network investigations and operational challenges.
- Coach and mentor Technical Advisors to enhance team effectiveness and response capability.
- Support emergency responses and lead remediation efforts for network incidents.
- Monitor network performance and manage investigations into complex operational issues.
- Develop, review, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and other operational documentation.
- Assist with planning, prioritising, and verifying both planned and reactive maintenance work.
Candidate Profile
- Holds relevant technical, trade, or engineering qualifications or has equivalent practical experience.
- Demonstrates logical thinking with strong problem-solving, investigative, and analytical abilities.
- Experience in water operations, emergency response, and delivering customer service.
- Ability to interpret engineering schematics and proficient use of maintenance and asset management systems.
- Possession of a New Zealand Class 1 driver's licence and relevant Traffic Management certification.

Additional Details and Requirements
- Applicants must be legally entitled to work long-term in New Zealand or be eligible for a working visa.

Remuneration: Salary range is $80,369 to $113,462 NZD per annum (inclusive of KiwiSaver), commensurate with experience and skills.
