Role Summary
As a pivotal member of the People & Performance team, you will spearhead recruitment for our hardware engineering division, responsible for sourcing, engaging, and hiring specialists involved in designing and producing the core physical products. This role requires managing the entire recruitment cycle for hardware roles, developing strong relationships with engineering leaders, and contributing strategically to broader talent initiatives as the company scales globally.
Responsibilities
- Manage complete recruitment processes for hardware engineering positions across regions, including sourcing, screening, coordinating technical evaluations, and assisting with offer procedures.
- Build and sustain proactive talent pipelines in areas such as embedded systems, electrical, mechanical, RF/antenna engineering, firmware, and manufacturing.
- Gain in-depth understanding of hardware engineering skill sets, tools, and career paths to evaluate candidates credibly.
- Collaborate extensively with hardware engineering leadership to understand team dynamics, technical necessities, and role success profiles.
- Participate in workforce strategy and planning to anticipate hiring demands aligned with product roadmaps.
- Contribute to developing and refining the employer value proposition for hardware engineers to attract niche and competitive talent.
- Create scalable and adaptable recruitment practices suitable for increasing hiring volumes across multiple geographies.
- Coach and empower hiring managers on interviewing, designing technical assessments, and making hiring decisions.
- Support diversity, equity, and inclusion programs to widen hardware talent access and foster representative team compositions.
- Represent Halter at industry events, university programs, and forums to elevate the hardware talent brand.
- Monitor, analyze, and communicate key recruitment metrics such as time-to-fill, pipeline health, and offer acceptance rates to continuously enhance methods.
- Assist with internal mobility and employer branding strategies as the company grows.
Candidate Profile
- More than 5 years of experience in talent acquisition with a focus on recruiting for hardware engineering roles including embedded, electrical, mechanical, or similar disciplines.
- Demonstrated success in sourcing and closing hardware engineering talent in competitive and specialized markets by knowing where and how to engage these professionals effectively.
- Experience recruiting across various hardware specializations and geographic regions, preferably within rapid-growth or product-driven technology companies.
- Solid technical literacy that allows credible discussions about hardware stack, design tools, and technical trade-offs without being an engineer.
- Ability to act as a strategic business partner, effectively managing executive-level interaction and hands-on recruitment activities concurrently.
- Proven capability to deliver high-quality hires swiftly in fast-paced, high-volume recruitment environments.
- Proficient in data analysis and recruitment reporting, comfortable managing and interpreting hiring metrics.
- Familiar with employment regulations, immigration, and compliance in New Zealand and ideally Australia.
- Strong emotional intelligence combined with excellent communication skills and a proactive, solution-oriented mindset thriving in ambiguity and with high ownership.
