Position Overview

The Senior Software Engineer role centers on deep technical involvement in architecting and developing a secure AI platform at enterprise scale. This position demands hands-on coding, problem-solving, and end-to-end system development within a dynamic, fast-moving environment aimed at shaping secure AI futures.

Candidates must be located onsite near Vancouver, Canada.

Responsibilities

• Design and sustain a scalable SaaS platform on AWS utilizing ECS, RDS, VPCs, and Redis among other services.
• Produce reliable, high-quality backend Python code for services, infrastructure tooling, automation, and prototypes.
• Diagnose and fix intricate challenges across AWS resources, backend applications, networks, firewalls, VPNs, and certificate management.
• Create security-focused architectures integrating firewalls, API gateways, and other modern security frameworks.
• Lead DevOps activities including infrastructure automation, continuous integration and deployment, and maintaining operational excellence.
• Make key architectural decisions to guarantee platform reliability, scalability, security, and ease of maintenance.
• Develop proof-of-concept projects and system frameworks to expedite team development efforts.
• Provide mentorship by guiding colleagues on troubleshooting, system design, and delivering sustainable, high-caliber solutions.

Requirements

• At least seven years of tangible experience in software engineering.
• Experience working in startup-like environments with agility and ownership of broad technology stacks.
• Extensive background deploying and managing SaaS systems on AWS.
• Advanced Python skills focused on distributed systems, backend service development, and automation tools.
• Robust DevOps capabilities within AWS, notably using Terraform, CloudFormation, and similar technologies.
• Strong foundational knowledge of networking and security, including API gateways and firewall management.
• Proven track record in architecting systems, making sound technology choices, and applying best practices.
• Excellent capacity to deliver dependable, quality solutions promptly under demanding deadlines.
• Quick adaptability to new technologies, codebases, and architectural approaches, coupled with the ability to teach peers.
• Preferably experienced in developing enterprise-grade and information security systems.
• Demonstrated hands-on engineering throughout entire system lifecycles.
