Senior Software Engineer - Pricing

About the Role

At SIXT, pricing is the core driver of our business success, and you will take full ownership of it. Your responsibilities will span from interpreting business objectives to delivering a validated production solution. This involves collaborating closely with product teams, designing systems, deploying code, and proving the impact on key metrics. The position focuses on managing car-rental yield management—a high-frequency, perishable inventory environment requiring real-time, mission-critical decisions. Key Responsibilities

• Fully own pricing challenges from initial ambiguous business goals through to a deployed, actively monitored production system, including authoring code, testing, and deployment.
• Work collaboratively with Product as an equal partner, co-owning the outcome by converting business objectives into technical solutions, proactively improving unclear requirements.
• Clarify ambiguous problems by defining precise specifications with measurable acceptance criteria and outlining edge cases and validation plans post-launch.
• Enhance code quality structurally by embedding automated standards checks to prevent errors before code review, and systematically diagnose root causes to prevent recurrence, as pricing errors carry high cost.
• Leverage AI tools as valuable engineering supports to speed up development from specifications to functional C++ code, accelerate root cause analysis, and generate tests, while assessing optimal integration of AI within the pricing technology stack.
• Drive technical decisions that optimize performance, reliability, and correctness across the pricing systems and raise quality standards among engineering colleagues.

Required Skills and Experience

• Proficiency in C++ as the primary programming language focused on latency-sensitive, correctness-critical pricing systems where detail matters deeply.
• Proven ability to independently develop scalable distributed systems; experience with Golang is highly advantageous for building service layers around core systems.
• Strong systems thinking, with the ability to assess trade-offs involving reliability, performance, and correctness; capable of designing clear subsystem interfaces and performing root cause analysis across services.
• Results-driven mindset prioritizing understanding core problems before implementing solutions; success is evaluated by impact rather than code quantity.
• Highly proactive attitude in a precision-demanding, high-stakes domain where decisions materially affect financial outcomes.
• Excellent team collaboration skills, confidently challenging ambiguous framing and contributing sound architectural judgments in partnership with product and engineering peers.
