About the Role
Join Demonware's Database team in Dublin as a Senior Software Engineer focused on creating dependable and scalable online services that reach millions globally. This onsite role requires presence in the Dublin office four days a week, with potential changes in work arrangements based on business needs.
The Database team oversees a vast platform of thousands of nodes, aiming to simplify database management across the company. The focus is on developing a self-service platform that internal teams use to configure and deploy database technology for services and game titles. You will contribute to evolving this platform, incorporating cloud technologies, and reducing operational complexities for users. Core technologies include Redis, Kubernetes, and Vitess (MySQL).
Key Responsibilities
- Design, maintain, and advance the database tooling platform, enhancing the self-service capabilities with cloud integration.
- Collaborate with database-operating teams to meet their needs efficiently.
- Lead architectural decisions for software and tooling with emphasis on reliability for players and internal customers.
- Ensure scalability and maintainability of all system components.
- Take ownership of feature development, components, and tooling.
- Review designs and code contributed by peers.
- Support customer-facing teams during feature rollouts and provide guidance to global colleagues.
- Partner with engineers to troubleshoot technology challenges and enhance customer experience.
- Mentor team members on best practices in database tooling development and integration.
Qualifications
- At least 7 years of software engineering experience, particularly in critical production service contexts.
- Strong programming skills with proficiency in multiple languages, especially Python.
- Experience designing and building engineering tools with an understanding of effective API and tooling design.
- Knowledge of database schema design and hands-on experience with MySQL and NoSQL databases.
- Familiarity with container orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes.
- Excellent cross-team communication skills.
- Solid grasp of networking protocols including TCP, HTTP, and TLS.
- Capability to analyze requirements and translate them into design choices.
- A strong investigative approach coupled with eagerness to learn emerging technologies.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities requiring minimal supervision.
- A collaborative, supportive, and positive attitude towards teamwork.
Preferred Experience
- Software engineering experience with Golang.
- Familiarity with continuous integration and agile development methodologies.
- Experience building backend services, RESTful APIs, and working with Linux and open-source technologies.
- Exposure to large-scale services handling millions of concurrent users.
