Role Overview
As a Senior Software Engineer within the Engineering Operations Team, you will help champion engineering excellence by developing, implementing, and maintaining scalable core processes that boost development efficiency, reliability, and quality for Camunda 8 codebases and engineering-wide workflows. You will contribute to making the internal development lifecycle highly autonomous, supporting Camunda 8's market leadership in agentic orchestration. This entails collaboration with infrastructure and core engineering teams to ensure streamlined workflows, solid dependency management, and continuous CI process advancements amid an AI-first development environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the transition to an AI-augmented engineering lifecycle by establishing unified and automated processes across Camunda 8 repositories, including AI-enabled tasks such as release management, autonomous dependency updates, and proactive remediation of vulnerabilities.
- Continuously refine CI and release health alongside development velocity by leveraging metrics-driven analyses to identify bottlenecks within AI-first workflows.
- Partner with stakeholders to implement and evolve CI strategies and engineering best practices, establishing a positive influence across the engineering organization.
- Detect pain points in engineering operations and transform them into automated, sustainable systems capable of handling increased activity in an AI-augmented environment by collaborating effectively with engineers, leaders, and cross-functional groups.
Candidate Profile
- Proven software engineering expertise with a track record of successful delivery, preferably with Java.
- Experience specializing in fullstack or backend development.
- Strong commitment to operational excellence beyond coding, including proficiency in optimizing CI/CD pipelines, dependency management, release enhancements, metric tracking, and improving build performance (DevOps mindset).
- Hands-on knowledge of CI build tools such as GitHub Actions, Java ecosystem tools like Maven and Docker, and automation scripting with Shell or Python within complex setups like monorepositories.
- Demonstrated capability as a collaborative team player who delivers impactful solutions in platform-oriented environments.
- Experience enhancing developer experience, optimizing workflows, and advancing AI integration within engineering processes.
- Ownership mindset covering codebase development, deployment, and operations, fully embracing the "you build it, you run it" philosophy.
Desirable Qualifications
- Experience designing efficient cross-team engineering operations.
- Familiarity with Camunda or other BPMN systems.
