Senior Project Engineer (Offshore)

Job Overview

Wood is seeking an experienced Senior Project Engineer to join our Qatar office, contributing to study, FEED, EPC, and PMC scopes within the offshore energy sector. This long-term role demands adherence to project execution plans, safety, quality, and cost efficiency within schedule deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Promote and uphold Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality standards, encouraging a proactive safety culture.
• Support engineering and project management teams to ensure project excellence.
• Own and manage assigned project scopes, delivering on time and within procedural standards.
• Potentially manage proposals, studies, or projects under senior supervision for small to medium scopes.
• Coordinate multidiscipline engineering activities across multiple locations, including collaboration with special engineering centers.
• Ensure engineering compliance with contractual scope and quality standards before client delivery.
• Lead development and coordination of key project documents such as execution plans, design bases, subcontract scopes, and project trackers.
• Manage scheduling, manpower, milestones, and risk for medium-sized engineering projects.
• Organize and chair technical and project meetings, ensuring resolution of issues and smooth communication with clients and third parties.
• Lead site surveys and develop corresponding reports for brownfield projects.
• Assist in identifying and resolving project and technical risks.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering discipline required.
• At least 10 years’ relevant experience, preferably in both onshore and offshore oil and gas sectors.
• Registration as a Grade A or B Engineer in the State of Qatar is advantageous.
• Advanced qualifications in project management (e.g., PMP, APM) are desirable.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office for document and schedule management.
• Self-driven, detail-oriented with strong initiative.
• High commercial awareness and ability to interpret and manage contracts.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills, capable of motivating multidiscipline teams.
• Experienced in risk and change management throughout project phases including design and site work.
• Strong multidiscipline coordination skills, able to solve complex technical conflicts.
• Previous involvement with diverse project phases from concept through commissioning, with offshore upstream focus preferred.
• Familiarity with project design review techniques and standards such as HAZID, P&ID, HAZOP, SIL, and others.
• Knowledge of local Qatar oil and gas standards and regulations is a plus.
