Job description
Role Overview
We are seeking a Senior Planner to join our Program Management Consultancy team based in AlUla. This role will focus on supporting the PMC Development Stage (RIBA 0-4) for high-profile construction projects within Saudi Arabia, providing a unique opportunity to contribute to a growing team.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop initial baseline schedules with limited project information, leveraging extensive construction project experience including both pre and post contract phases.
- Assist in creating and managing comprehensive strategic programmes covering design, procurement, and construction timelines along with supporting schedule information.
- Integrate all project stages from initiation through completion into the baseline, with clear identification of stage gates.
- Coordinate and develop master planning, engineering, procurement, and construction schedules alongside related supporting documents.
- Establish and agree upon project reporting procedures; prepare and deliver monthly progress presentations.
- Create project and programme dashboard templates for use by designers and contractors across the programme.
- Evaluate schedules and associated reports from designers and contractors to ensure alignment with project objectives.
- Analyze schedule trends, identify issues, recommend corrective measures, and monitor actual versus planned progress.
- Track engineering design progress, procurement of materials and equipment, construction, and commissioning activities.
- Develop progress monitoring tools using earned value management for effective oversight of schedules on and off site.
- Collaborate closely with the Project Controls Manager and Project Team to ensure programme feasibility and compliance with Master Plan and contractual obligations.
- Maintain daily interfaces with designers, PMCs, contractors, subcontractors, and internal management teams.
- Conduct studies relating to scheduling, manpower requirements, cash flow, and material flow as necessary.
- Attend client-requested offsite meetings to provide updates and insights.
- Review schedules for potential delays in key milestones and assist with defending or approving any claims for time extensions or significant schedule changes.
- Implement and uphold consistent administration procedures across the project for planning activities.
- Participate with the program management team under direction of the Project Controls Director to achieve project goals.
- Include stakeholder requirements and approvals in the baseline schedule.
- Issue weekly high-level schedule updates and report areas impacting progress.
- Suggest measures to enhance schedule performance and standardize scheduling, reporting procedures, tools, templates, and instructions throughout the programme.
- Monitor the timing of document submittals against schedule expectations.
- Develop and track programme Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
Candidate Profile
- A minimum of 8 years of professional experience in construction or engineering industries.
- At least 3 years of experience with similar project types in the region is preferred.
- Possession of a degree related to engineering, construction, or project management is ideal, along with membership or chartered status from a relevant professional construction body.
- Proficiency in Arabic (both speaking and writing) will be considered an advantage.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective interactions with technical and non-technical stakeholders and clear presentation of project information.
- Excellent time management capabilities to prioritize effectively and handle multiple competing demands in a dynamic environment.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing project demands and challenges to ensure successful delivery.
