Role Overview
The Senior Planner role is based in Kil, County Kildare, within the civil department. This position involves developing comprehensive programmes for tender submissions and supporting the scheduling activities for major infrastructure projects across Ireland.
Key Responsibilities
- Planning projects using software such as MS Project, Primavera P6, Asta Powerproject, and 4D tools.
- Formulating programme strategies for both construction and tender processes.
- Creating and updating detailed project schedules from initial stages, incorporating resource and cost estimations.
- Interpreting tender documentation thoroughly to inform planning.
- Collaborating closely with estimators and project teams on scheduling matters.
- Conducting mass haul calculations and preparing illustrative diagrams.
- Producing clear narratives, phased scheduling, reports, and documentation to support tender and project quality submissions.
- Managing short-term planning alongside project teams.
- Owning the programme to actively drive project execution.
- Communicating programme information, risks, and commercial considerations to operational teams in various formats.
- Organising and leading planning workshops involving clients, operational teams, and subcontractors.
- Monitoring project progress, providing reports aligned with project and contractual requirements.
- Implementing and reviewing programme changes, supporting commercial teams.
- Assessing supply chain and subcontractor schedules.
- Conducting peer reviews of programmes.
- Ensuring adherence to business processes and systems.
- Keeping updated on the latest construction methodologies.
Candidate Profile
- Possession of a third-level degree in civil engineering or construction.
- Approximately 10 years of relevant experience including roadworks, earthworks, drainage, structures, and marine projects.
- Previous roles as a Civil Planner with a solid grasp of construction methods, complemented by commercial and contractual knowledge.
- Comfortable engaging in client-facing interactions.
- Proven capability to take ownership and actively drive project programmes and manage subcontractor schedules.
- Strong logical thinking skills and ability to work systematically.
- Familiarity with planning principles and methodologies.
- Effective communication skills.
- Competent in planning technologies such as Primavera P6 and 4D software; training opportunities are provided.
- Ability to meet challenging deadlines.
- Capacity to contribute strategically to bid submissions.
