Role Responsibilities

  • Standardize equipment specifications, drawings, and document templates to ensure consistency.
  • Provide technical insights, ensure compliance with legal requirements, and meet customer specifications where feasible and lawful.
  • Apply local and global standards to uphold technical excellence across projects.
  • Support document review and design verification to confirm conformance with company and project standards.
  • Oversee project-assigned mechanical designers and draftsmen, guiding their technical execution.
  • Develop specifications, data sheets, and related documents covering rotating machinery and system packages.
  • Evaluate bids and review vendor documentation for approval purposes.
  • Produce technical reports and operating manuals through comprehensive technical writing.
  • Manage engineering studies and projects focused on mechanical rotating equipment as allocated.
  • Prepare technical requisitions, define inspection and testing requirements, and maintain proper documentation.
  • Implement innovative techniques, technological advancements, and methods to manage out-of-sequence work efficiently.
  • Assist Lead Engineer in monitoring quality assurance activities and undertake corrective actions when necessary.
  • Support project teams in preparing proposals, cost estimates, budgets, and schedules.
  • Organize and contribute to weekly mechanical discipline meetings, draft progress reports, and follow verification protocols.
  • Review and approve all pertinent technical documents in coordination with Lead Engineer.
  • Lead and complete engineering tasks specific to the mechanical rotating equipment discipline in petrochemical, refinery, and oil & gas facilities, including related utilities.
  • Adhere to quality assurance systems to ensure compliance and accountability.
  • Promote and practice personal safety, safe work procedures, and comply with occupational health and safety standards.
  • Maintain Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) awareness within the team and demonstrate leadership in safety culture and practices.
  • Identify, report, and mitigate workplace hazards and safety incidents.

Qualifications and Accreditation

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution is required.
  • Registration with Ministry of Municipality and Environment (MME) engineering accreditation is mandatory; candidates must obtain accreditation during probation if not already held.
  • Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status or progress towards it is favorable.

Experience Requirements

  • Extensive background in the Oil & Gas sector within the GCC region.
  • Proven experience in detailed design and Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) in mechanical engineering.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, standards, codes, and specific Qatar Petroleum (QP) specifications.
  • Experience as a rotating equipment engineer dealing with upstream and midstream gas turbines is advantageous.
  • Technical proficiency with compressors and pumps is required.
