Position Summary
We are looking for an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join a major Oil & Gas operator on a long-term contract at the onshore site in Ras Laffan, Qatar. The role requires dedication to supporting mechanical engineering aspects such as piping, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, and packaged equipment to meet strategic goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive mechanical engineering support, including design reviews, commissioning, start-up, failure analysis, and troubleshooting, alongside developing maintenance modification work packs.
- Establish and document best practices within your expertise and suggest initiatives to improve performance.
- Offer technical input across disciplines to meet overarching business objectives, identifying and resolving plant-related static equipment and piping issues.
- Oversee and manage activities executed by contractors, consultants, and service providers effectively.
- Mentor junior engineers in implementing company integrity and reliability protocols.
- Ensure smooth project tie-ins for all systems under your responsibility.
- Maintain an issue register to identify and address critical challenges, including risks tied to new technologies that affect project reliability and availability.
- Deliver Management of Change technical support to assigned assets to maintain asset integrity, reliability, and a safe continuous plant environment.
- Engage actively in safety initiatives such as Safety Workshops, Cold Eye Reviews, Value Improvement Workshops, Root Cause Failure Analysis, scenario-based risk assessments, risk screening, and Formal Risk Assessments.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering is mandatory.
- Minimum 6 years' experience in the oil and gas sector.
- Demonstrated competencies at Senior Engineer level according to Mechanical Technical Competencies standards.
- Proficient in performing design calculations and verifications using software like PV Elite, CAESAR II, and Nozzle Pro.
Working Conditions
- Location: Onshore Qatar Site, Ras Laffan.
- Working schedule: Five days per week, 8 to 10 hours daily, or adjusted as per project demands.
- Role start date: Immediate or within one month's notice.
