Job description
About the Role
We are looking for a Senior GIS Engineer specialized in GE Smallworld to develop and maintain geospatial solutions that support a property intelligence platform. This role involves creating Smallworld applications, enhancing spatial data pipelines, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to integrate reliable location-based features into production environments.
Key Duties
- Design, develop, and maintain applications and services utilizing Smallworld GIS technology.
- Develop, optimize, and oversee spatial data pipelines and ETL workflows for geographic and property-related datasets.
- Work closely with data engineering and product teams to implement geospatial functionalities and system integrations.
- Provide expert guidance on GIS system architecture, spatial modelling, and technical design decisions.
- Identify and resolve complex issues within production geospatial applications and data.
- Create comprehensive technical documentation, including standards and operational runbooks.
- Support continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD) processes using GitHub for version control and release management.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers on Smallworld technologies and GIS engineering best practices.
Candidate Requirements
- Demonstrated expertise in GE Smallworld GIS platform.
- Proficient programmer in Magik language with hands-on experience.
- Strong foundation in geospatial principles, spatial data modelling, and architectural design.
- Experience integrating GIS solutions with cloud services such as Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or Amazon Web Services (AWS).
- Skilled in SQL for managing and transforming spatial and tabular data sets.
- Proficient in Python scripting for automation, data processing, and pipeline maintenance.
- Experienced with CI/CD processes and GitHub source control management.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively across engineering and product teams.
