F5's AI Security team is expanding and seeking a driven and adaptable Backend Software Engineer. This role involves designing, developing, testing, and maintaining scalable backend services that underpin industry-leading AI Security solutions. Your work will be essential in delivering our AI Security web application with cutting-edge, reliable technology to meet business and client demands.

Technology Stack

• Backend technologies: Python, FastAPI, Pydantic, Uvicorn
• Frontend technologies: Typescript, Vue3, Vite
• Version control: GitLab
• Continuous delivery: ArgoCD
• Deployment platforms: AWS utilizing Docker containers, Helm charts, Kubernetes orchestration

Primary Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and sustain scalable backend applications, Software Development Kits (SDKs), and tools supporting AI Security services.
• Work collaboratively with product managers, quality assurance, frontend developers, and data scientists to create seamless, efficient, and user-friendly software.
• Produce clean, maintainable code following best practices for software development and secure coding standards set by F5.
• Test and debug backend systems to assure top-notch scalability, performance, and operational reliability.
• Architect backend features aligning with modern software design principles and scalable architectural patterns.
• Actively identify and implement improvements during development cycles.
• Engage in cross-disciplinary teamwork, ensuring alignment between engineering efforts and business objectives.
• Keep abreast of new technologies, assessing and integrating advancements that enhance backend infrastructure.

Required Qualifications

• A minimum of five years’ experience building server-side applications using Python, FastAPI, or similar frameworks.
• Strong proficiency with databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL.
• Proven track record developing, troubleshooting, and maintaining RESTful APIs and complex backend services.
• Highly skilled at debugging complicated software systems.
• Passionate about delivering dependable backend solutions that fulfill both business and customer requirements.

• Strong collaboration skills, capable of working independently or within an engineering team.
• Excellent communication abilities to explain technical features, ideas, and potential risks to diverse audiences.

Preferred Experience

• Knowledge of containerized applications particularly using Docker and orchestration with Kubernetes.
• Experience working with cloud-based deployments on AWS.
• Hands-on familiarity with automated CI/CD pipelines such as those using ArgoCD.
• Understanding of secure coding practices and deploying mission-critical software in production environments.
