Role Overview
The Senior Dockhand position is a supervisory role operating within a 24/7 shift framework, responsible for leading dockside assistance, vessel berthing, and marina operations. Clear communication, proactive problem-solving, and the capacity to work night shifts are crucial. This role directly supports the safety and smooth operation of marina assets and guest movements.
Key Responsibilities
- Guide and mentor junior dockhands through on-the-job training.
- Focus on maintenance and diagnostic assessment to create snagging lists for marina handover.
- Support schedule creation and basic reporting functions alongside management.
- Contribute to updating and refining site-specific standard operating procedures and team training programs.
- Report any marina-related concerns promptly to management.
- Ensure vessels are securely moored and protected at all times, coordinating with captains and crews.
- Assist guests and crews with reasonable service requests.
- Lead routine inspections, cleaning, and maintenance of pontoons, marina workboats, vessels, and related facilities.
- Manage inventory and proper use of cleaning chemicals, adhering to safety instructions.
- Maintain the cleanliness and presentation of the marina, including litter removal and garbage disposal.
- Drive club cars for transporting passengers, luggage, and waste.
- Oversee reporting duties including daily, weekly, accident logs, utilizing computer skills for management reporting.
- Lead fuel dock operations including fuel payments and supervision.
- Head the dockhand team in vessel movement support, line handling, and rescue efforts.
- Operate marina workboats under appropriate licensing, assisting in berthing, emergencies, and towing.
- Participate in special events and promotional activities as needed.
- Champion strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental policies, reporting violations to management.
- Apply Red Sea Global processes across other marina locations if required.
- Maintain marina regulations compliance, educate yacht crews, and document infractions.
- Work additional shifts or remain on call during adverse weather or emergencies.
- Act decisively without hesitation to protect life and property per company emergency protocols.
Qualifications and Experience
- Completed secondary education.
- Experience within the Middle East region, especially Saudi Arabia, is advantageous.
- Physically capable of outdoor work, including lifting up to 23 kg.
- Swimming proficiency to safely travel at least 50 meters in water.
- Certified in First Aid.
- Basic firefighting knowledge and training preferred.
- Previous marina, yachting, or watersports experience with understanding of marina equipment.
Skill Requirements
- Excellent communication skills coupled with neat and clear handwriting.
- Proficiency in radio communication using UHF and/or VHF, including knowledge of yachting terminology.
- Positive, customer-focused approach.
- Organizational skills and attention to detail.
Additional Information
- This role requires independence within marina or yachting environments and flexibility with working hours.
