Senior Data Engineer – PL/SQL & Redshift

Job Location and Compensation

This position is based at the client site in Dubai, UAE. The salary range offered is AED 10,000 to AED 13,000 per month. Additional benefits include a work visa, air tickets, medical insurance, gratuity, and paid time off.

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Engineer skilled in SQL, PL/SQL, Oracle, and Amazon Redshift to architect, implement, and sustain robust database and data warehousing solutions. The role demands expertise in handling complex datasets, large-scale data processing, ETL pipeline creation, query tuning, and data transformation. Candidates with experience in the airline sector and familiarity with AWS services and MicroStrategy BI tools will be favored.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and maintain database systems using Oracle, SQL, and PL/SQL technologies.
• Create, optimize, and troubleshoot complex SQL queries and database procedures.
• Develop processes for processing bulk data and handling vast data transformations.
• Construct effective data models and database schemas to enhance data structure efficiency.
• Build and sustain data integration and warehousing workflows.
• Design scalable and reusable ETL components for processing large datasets.
• Extract and transform data from diverse sources to support analytical operations.
• Implement and fine-tune Amazon Redshift-based solutions.
• Address and resolve data-related problems, including ETL failures and production incidents.
• Optimize database systems and query performance continuously.
• Collaborate with IT, business analysts, and technical teams to ensure requirement fulfillment.
• Guarantee data integrity, consistency, and optimized system performance.
• Assist BI teams with data analysis and reporting support.
• Engage in testing, deployment, and post-production support tasks.

Required Skills and Experience

• Between five to eight years in data engineering, database development, or a related specialty.
• Advanced proficiency in SQL and PL/SQL programming.
• Strong background in writing, debugging, and optimizing intricate SQL queries and procedures.
• Significant experience working with Oracle database technology.
• Hands-on experience with Amazon Redshift data warehousing.
• Competence in processing bulk datasets and managing large-scale data volumes.
• Understanding of data modeling principles, schema design, and query optimization tactics.
• Expertise in developing ETL processes and integrating diverse data sources.
• Ability to diagnose and resolve ETL and data inconsistencies efficiently.
• Designing scalable, modular data pipelines built for reusability.
• Solid grasp of data transformation and warehousing concepts.
• Knowledge of AWS cloud services and their application in data solutions.
• Experience using MicroStrategy BI for business intelligence.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience within the airline or aviation industry.
• Working knowledge of Hadoop, Hive, or Spark platforms.
• Experience implementing AWS-centric data engineering solutions.
• Exposure to operational, commercial, or analytical data in aviation contexts.
• Experience handling large enterprise-level data platforms.

Educational Background

Candidates should possess at least a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or an equivalent field.
